Saj McKenley is a recording artist, singer and songwriter born and raised in Toronto. As the son of a downtown record store owner on Bloor Street (the former Music Land Records), he fell in love with music at an early age. Today his influences include Motown, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, pop, rock and new wave.
Saj joined his first band, Just Cool, while he was in high school, and began performing locally under the direction of Orin Isaacs, a music producer best known for his work on the singing competition Canada Sings. The band gained industry recognition and signed a distribution deal with EMI April Music Canada, but the deal and the band were both short-lived.
Saj took a break from music and in 2002, released his first solo, independent album, Life, a collaboration with record producer John Alexander from Leap of Faith Records (L.O.F. Records). In 2011, Saj released his second independent solo album, Seasons of Love, a Christmas album with a mix of traditional carols and original songs. He rejoined with former Just Cool member and long-time friend Yohan Gayle to write and produce the project under Elysha Music Group.
Today, Saj continues to collaborate with musicians in and around Toronto, performing at private and corporate events, and developing his own smooth vocal style.
